Even here in California, there’s no better way to stave off the creeping winter chill than by drawing a perfect winter bath.
We don’t really have nice bathtubs in our 1913 Craftsman. In fact, our bathrooms are seriously ugly, all brown and builder’s basic materials that are crying out to be gutted and replaced by something with a lot more charm. It’ll probably be a 2017 project, but for now, a girl can dream.
I was thrilled when WETSTYLE reached out and dared me to dream up a brand-new bathroom. Their new w2 by Wetstyle line, an eco-friendly line that combines classic and modern design for more “transitional” decor, is perfect for us. I usually want everything to look 100% original to the era in which our house was built, while David errs on the side of everything looking sleek and modern. It’s hard to find a compromise sometimes, but WETSTYLE’s products are right up our alley.
At the center, of course, is the W2 by WETSTYLE Cloud Bathtub. I love the subtle slipper shape of the tub and its clean lines, but also the fact that the curved shape isn’t too modern. And, for those of us with old houses, it’s great to know that W2 by WETSTYLE was designed to fit into smaller bathrooms. While we can all drool over Pinterest images of those enormous McMansion en-suites, not everyone has a master bath the size of my college apartment!
The tub is also made out of WETMAR BiO™, an eco-friendly thermo-insulating material made primarily from a mix of natural ingredients – soy and mineral stone. WETMAR BiO™ uses vegetable extracts to replace petrochemical-based resins that are in heavily use by the fixture industry. This would be perfect in our house, as we’ve already started the process of greening our home, by looking into both solar panels as well as a gray water system.
The Cloud tub goes perfectly with the Black and White hex tile that I’m coveting for our floors, and the marble-inspired subway tile for the walls. The Greek key linens from Williams-Sonoma Home are super chic but also classic, and the Thurman Wall Sconces from Rejuvenation are the perfect lighting for next to a vanity. Of course, I had to throw in some luxe beauty products– my favorite argan oil products from Josie Maran– and some holiday scents from Nest to round out the luxuriant experience.
The other awesome thing about the Cloud bathtub? It only weighs 132 pounds. Compared to a classic cast-iron clawfoot, this won’t require massive restructuring to put in to a second-floor bathroom. That makes a bathroom make-over a little bit easier to manage.
