The Country Peach

Because of my failed juice fast, we had a boatload of produce in the house this past week– much more than usual.

Decided to put some of that to work for a fresh and lively cocktail!

  • 1/2 of a ripe peach, chopped
  • 2 oz ginger vodka
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup or agave nectar
  • ice
  1. In a shaker, muddle or “smoosh” your chopped peach.  I used the aft-end of a butter knife.
  2. Add ice, syrup, and ginger vodka; shake-a, shake-a, shake-a
  3. Pour (do not strain) your drink into a glass
  4. Enjoy!

OR!

Make your peach drink in a canning jar, like I did…

  1. In the bottom of your jar, muddle your peach.
  2. Add your ice cubes, vodka, and syrup.
  3. Screw on the lid and shake the whole she-bang.
  4. Unscrew the lid and serve.

This was my preferred method, because there were fewer dishes to wash.

Happy Cocktail Friday, everyone!  I’ll next be checking in from Napa!

  1. I’ve been looking for new cocktail recipes, and this is perfect because it incorporates my favorite — vodka! And the Mason jars are just so cute. Going on my to-do list.

  2. I used to work at a restaurant where all the drinks are served in a canning jar. I think it makes perfect sense to use a canning jar, especially for something fruity. (Okay, not sure why that’s more normal than drinking just, say, water out of a canning jar, but fruit makes me think of canning? Oy, my mind!)

  3. Believe it not, I was just thinking the other day that I needed a built in cocktail shaker into a glass! A mason is a great solution. Love this cocktail recipe and are going to share it!
