Christmas Cocktails

I don’t know about you guys, but David and I are in full-time Christmas mode. Though we won’t be hosting a party this year (our home construction is going to go straight up til Christmas Day, I think), Sauza® Tequila still sent along some amazing recipes to handle one of the most difficult party problems:

Drinks!

The key to a successful cocktail party is this: you have to make your drinks in a batch. That way, you can get to hosting and heck, even having fun at your own party, and not get stuck playing bartender all night.

Sauza sent along 12 amazing spins on the margarita that will make your holidays very merry and bright, indeed.

 

Mistletoe MargaritaMistletoe Margarita (serves 8)

  • 1 ½ cups Sauza® Signature Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • ½ cup DeKuyper® Triple Sec
  • 1 ½ cups cranberry cocktail juice
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice
  • ½ cup simple syrup
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries for garnish (optional)
  • Sugar for rimming (optional)
  • Lime wheels for garnish (optional)
  • 8 cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Combine the first five ingredients in a pitcher and stir. Place lime slices and cranberries in the pitcher for added flavor. Rim glasses with sugar before serving. Skewer fresh cranberries with a toothpick and roll in remaining sugar.  Pour into glasses over ice, top with cranberry skewer and finish with a cinnamon stick.

 

Mexican Egg NogMexican Egg Nog (serves 8)

  • 1 cup Sauza® Conmemorativo Anejo
  • 1 cup Maker’s Mark® Bourbon
  • 3 cups egg nog
  • 8 cinnamon sticks and cinnamon for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Combine egg nog, tequila and bourbon in a pitcher and stir. Pour into glasses and garnish with a cinnamon stick and sprinkle of cinnamon on top. 

Partridge and Pear MargaritaPartridge and Pear Margarita (serves 8)

  • 2 cups Sauza® Signature Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • 1 cup pear syrup
  • 1 cup simple syrup
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • ½ cup lime juice
  • Rosemary sprigs for garnish (optional)
  • Pear slices for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Combine the first five ingredients in a pitcher and stir. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Pour into margarita glasses and garnish each with a rosemary sprig and slice of pear. 

Pumpkin Spice MargaritaPumpkin Spice Margarita (serves 8)

  • 1 ½ cups Sauza® Signature Blue Reposado 100% Agave Tequila
  • ½ cup DeKuyper® Triple Sec
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup simple syrup
  • ½ cup lime juice
  • 2 cups ice
  • Whipped topping (optional)
  • Pumpkin spice (optional)

Preparation: Combine first five ingredients in a blender with ice. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin spice.

Chocolate Chip MargaritaChocolate Chip Margarita (serves 12)

  • 1 ½ cups Sauza® Signature Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • 1 ½ cups JDK & Sons Crave® Chocolate Chili Liqueur
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • Chocolate chips for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Combine tequila, liqueur and cream in a pitcher and stir. Garnish with chocolate chips. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Pour into martini glasses and garnish each with 5-10 chocolate chips.

Apple Pie MargaritaApple Pie Margarita (serves 8)

  • 1 cup Sauza® Signature Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • 1 cup DeKuyper® Sour Apply Pucker Schnapps
  • 3 cups apple juice
  • ½ cup lime juice
  • ½ cup simple syrup
  • Cinnamon for rimming (optional)
  • Apple slices for garnish (optional)
  • Cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Combine first five ingredients in a punch bowl or pitcher with ice. Place apple slices and cinnamon sticks in the punch bowl for added flavor. Serve in glasses rimmed with cinnamon. Garnish with a thin slice of apple.

Tequila Hot ToddyTequila Hot Toddy (serves 8)

  • 1 ½ cups Sauza® Conmemorativo Anejo
  • ½ Jim Beam® Honey
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 11 cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)
  • Cloves for garnish (optional)
  • Orange wheels for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Combine first five ingredients in a pitcher and set aside. Using a tea kettle or pot, heat water on stovetop until boiling. Place cinnamon sticks, cloves and orange wheels in the pitcher for added flavor. Add hot water to pitcher. Serve in glasses with a cinnamon stick for garnish. Reheat as needed, or prepare cocktail in a slow cooker to keep warm throughout the party.

Orange Espresso MargaritaOrange Espresso Margarita (serves 8)

  • 1 ½ cups Sauza® Signature Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • ½ cup DeKuyper® Triple Sec
  • 1 cup espresso
  • 1 cup simple syrup
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • Orange peel for garnish (optional)
  • Espresso beans for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Combine the first five ingredients in a pitcher and stir. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Pour into martini glasses and garnish each with an orange peel and 5-10 espresso beans.

Gingerbread MargaritaGingerbread Margarita (serves 8)

  • 1 cup Sauza® Conmemorativo Anejo
  • ½ cup DeKuyper® Triple Sec
  • 3 cups apple cider
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • ¼ gingerbread syrup
  • Gingerbread cookies for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Combine the first five ingredients in a pitcher and stir. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve or serve over ice. Pour into glasses and garnish each with a gingerbread cookie.

Toasted Coconut MargaritaToasted Coconut Margarita (serves 8)

  • 2 cups Sauza® Signature Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • 1 cup DeKuyper® Triple Sec
  • 3 cups cream of coconut
  • 1 ½ cups lime juice
  • 2 cups ice
  • 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut for garnish (optional)
  • Lime wedge for rimming (optional)

Preparation: Spread shredded coconut out on a small baking sheet and toast in the oven or toaster oven until golden brown. Meanwhile, combine tequila, triple sec, cream of coconut and lime juice in a blender with ice. Blend until smooth. Prepare each glass by running a lime wedge around the rim to help the coconut stick. Dip glass rim in coconut, pour cocktail into prepared glass and serve.

Very Merry CrushVery Merry Crush (serves 8)

  • 2 cups Sauza® Signature Blue Reposado 100% Agave Tequila
  • 4 ginger beers
  • ½ cup lime juice
  • 1/3 cup cherry preserves
  • 11 rosemary sprigs

Preparation: strip leaves from three rosemary springs and place in pitcher with lime juice and cherry preserves. Muddle these ingredients together. Add tequila and ginger beer and stir well. Pour into tall glasses over ice and garnish with a rosemary sprig.

Chocolate Peppermint MargaritaChocolate Peppermint Margarita (serves 8)

  • 1 ½ cups Sauza® Signature Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • ½ cup DeKuyper® Peppermint Schnapps Liqueur
  • 6 cups milk
  • 1 cup hot chocolate powder
  • 8 peppermint sticks for garnish (optional)
  • 8 cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)
  • 8 mint sprigs for garnish (optional)
  • Cinnamon for garnish (optional)

Preparation: Add first four ingredients into a pitcher and stir until combined. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Pour into glass mugs and garnish with peppermint and cinnamon sticks. Finish with a sprig of mint and sprinkle of cinnamon.
