National #HaveFunAtWorkDay

So, I got an email from Sauza® tequila a few days ago letting me know that it was time to prep myself:

January 28th is National Have Fun at Work Day

You may be thinking to yourself, “That is impossible. I hate my job.” And I can tell you, I have been there. Lots.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun at work.

If you’re a lucky desk jockey like I always was, I have to say that there are ways to brighten up your office space. There are coping mechanisms. And there’s always the reminder that jobs are temporary.

But truly, I’ve often found that my best hope for counteracting crappy jobs is finding friends, especially a superior (who is not necessarily your superior) who can help you out.

Step One: Reconnoissance

A little bit prior to your chosen Have Fun At Work Holiday, find a friendly superior (who is not necessarily your superior) and put out feelers. Chances are, they also know morale is low.

Step Two: Plant the Seed

It’s time to tell your boss about all the fun times you’ve had at work (this job and previous jobs) that involved, perhaps, a little bit of hair-letting-down and camaraderie. Wasn’t it so fun when Bob from accounting started dancing to Katy Perry at Sheila’s retirement party? Yes, it was. We should have more of that, no? YES!

Step Three: Planning

Set a date, send out the e-mail blast, and organize the pot-luck. You’re about a week away from having fun at work.

pinAnd, naturally, you can convince your boss to let you have a teensy tipple, right? One bottle of Sauza® has an MSRP of about $20.

Tell HR to take it out of petty cash.

Minted Mexican Mule

  • 1 ½ parts Sauza® Signature Blue Reposado Tequila

  • 3 parts ginger beer
  • Mint leaves
  1. Add liquid ingredients to an ice-filled shaker.
  2. Shake and strain over ice into a copper mug.
